Currently celebrating its 23rd year, Walk for Life 2012 promises to be the most royal yet. As ever, this 10 kilometre walk takes in some of London’s most iconic and regal landmarks, and the route is designed to be a fabulous parade through London, giving a voice and support to the thousands of people living with HIV in poverty.

Getting there
Potters Fields Park is situated on Tooley Street, between Tower Bridge and the GLA building, SE1 2AA.. The closest tube station is London Bridge on the Northern and Jubilee lines or Tower Hill on the District and Circle lines.
Entertainment fit for a Queen….
When you arrive triumphantly back to the park you’ll be greeted by great fanfare and the ultimate Royal seal of approval: a Walk for Life medal! Then it’s time to relax and let us treat you like royalty. We’ve got a fab afternoon of entertainment lined up, so please aim to be back at the park by 2pm so you don’t miss out!
Food and drink
There will be plenty of water available on the day to make sure you don’t get dehydrated and free cereal bars to keep your strength up - thanks to the generous support of Brakes, Kelloggs and PepsiCo. Once you’re back at the park you can also visit our food stands and grab yourself a picnic to munch on.
Get kitted out in your finest royal attire but be prepared!
When planning your royal regalia for the walk don’t forget to think about keeping yourself protected from the elements. We might all be royalty for the day but unfortunately we can’t reign over the British weather, so plan for rain or shine with sunscreen and an umbrella – you never know what the weather might do!
Keeping yourself and your crown jewels safe
The walk route follows footpaths beside main roads and the river, so please take care and when you need to cross a road and use the designated pedestrian crossings. You will need to carry anything you bring with you so please only bring essentials and leave your valuables at home.
Where the money goes…
All funds raised at Walk for Life go towards our Hardship Fund which supports people living with HIV in severe financial need.
We’re determined to help people stay healthy and keep their dignity by providing smalls grants to fund basic necessities such as healthy food or warm clothing but we can only do this with your help!
Please pester everyone you know – friends, family, colleagues and acquaintances – and ask them to sponsor you. The more you raise the more people we can help that really need us.
THANK YOU!
We know that for some of you London might be that little bit too far to travel, or you may already be busy on 20 May 2012 and not able to join us. We don’t want you to miss out on all the fun, so we’ve created an exciting DIY pack for you to organise your very own Walk For Life in aid of Terrence Higgins Trust!
